Foolish Moments as a Hockey Player

# 1 - You slammed your stick on the ice, or slammed a player's gate out of ANGER or FRUSTRATION. You used your stick as a WEAPON rather than a tool!

# 2 - You vigorously questioned the INTEGRITY of an official. You BELITTLED a teammate!

#3 - You Panic with the puck. You were selfish with the puck!

#4 - You FORGOT a piece of equipment at home or did not take CARE of it. You walked on CEMENT (even on your toes) with your skates!

#5 - You DIVED in order to draw an infraction. You went OFFSIDE on an odd player break!

Foolish Moments as a Hockey Coach

# 1 - You made EXCUSES for your team's less than adequate on-ice performance or off-ice behavior. You failed to act as an appropriate ROLE MODEL on and off the ice.

# 2 - You PUNISHED the team as a WHOLE because of the performance or indiscretions of a few. You failed to PROPERLY CONDITION, both mentally and physically, your athletes.

#3 - You screamed (losing your composure)at a player. You Belittled a player in front of their teammates!

#4 - You selected players based primarily on their SIZE - height, and weight, rather than their SKILL, DESIRE, and TEAM SPIRIT. You showed an inability or a reluctance to see the POTENTIAL of a player - by slotting or stereotyping them into a specific and often limiting role!

#5 - You were not thoroughly PREPARED for a game, practice, or off-ice training session. You were LATE for a team-related function!

Foolish Moments as a Hockey Parent/Guardian.

# 1 - You expected GUARANTEES or PROMISES from coaches regarding - a certain line, amount of ice time, or playing in 'key ' situations.

# 2 - You FORCED your child to play or participate against their wishes - You did not LISTEN to their desires.

#3 - You Screamed at your child, Berated the referee, and Taunted the parents/guardians of the opposition!

#4 - You provided EXCUSES for your child's performance while CRITICIZING other players, coaches or parent-guardians!

#5 - You CONTRADICTED the philosophies of the coaching staff off the ice or COACHED from the stands.
