Huron Hockey

What's New

Our son came to us at the ripe old age of 7, stating that he had decided he would be the goalie for his hockey team the following year. We tried explaining to him that starting in a competitive hockey league as goalie wouldn't be as glorious as it sounded and being the only goalie for such a small team, there would be no mind changing mid season. As parents, we decided to prepare him for the undertaking of such a responsibility. Friends of ours had spoken highly of the Huron Hockey School, located in Cornwall, Ontario. We thought that having him participate in an all day long, week hockey school would either make him or break him. So we phoned Huron and received all the information needed for our son to participate.

He was the youngest goalie in the program and the only goalie that could skate under the cross bars of the net to get his own puck. Much to our surprise, he absolutely loved the hockey school experience. He enjoyed the off ice training just as much as the on ice training. He had the opportunity to meet new kids with the same love of the game and has shared his knowledge with other hockey players. That was his first Huron experience, 3 years ago. At the age of 10, he is still the team's lone goalie during the winter and has been asked to compete at Triple A level hockey during the spring season. We feel that Huron Hockey's August schedule is perfect timing for a goalie or player to get ready for the winter hockey season and recommend it to those interested.
